Cricket in St Lucia

Cricket is by far, one of the leading sports in St. Lucia – with the standards of domestic players and competitions, arguably the highest amongst the sports played on the island. This has been enhanced by the construction of the first rate Beausejour stadium, now the Darren Sammy Stadium, which is used by the West Indies and the highly successful local women cricketers. A ground Brian Lara calls “possibly the best in the Caribbean” annually hosts tests ODI’s and games in the West Indies limited-overs and four-day cricket competitions. It is also an attractive destination for pre-season training for English county and club teams; England were based here for the first leg of the 2007 World Cup.

St. Lucia is also currently basking in the reflected glory of having one of their own sons of the soil appointed as West Indies captain, with Darren Sammy the first ever Windward islander to gain the accolade.

Your Cricket Coaching experience

It has never been a more exciting time for young aspiring cricketers, with the breakthrough of Darren Sammy; being the first Lucian to represent and subsequently captain the West Indies, being followed by two more debutants. St. Lucia being named as one of the six franchises in the highly successful Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and the much anticipated Pro league, means clear pathways to worthwhile careers in the sport can be targeted and achieved!

Your coaching sessions will be vaired between working with school and club groups in local communities, as well as working with some of the national teams. Sessions will not only have the objective of improving the players for competition, but will attempt to teach key life skill such as leadership, management and teamwork.
